Investment Funds

Since 2001, Magna has sponsored five discretionary funds, which means that Magna (as the general partner) can make investment decisions without securing the approval of its limited partners. As of 2015, Magna has also sponsored six co-investment funds. Magna’s investors include all Magna corporate personnel and select, tenured property leaders, endowments, foundations, pension funds, fund-to-funds, and high net worth individuals.

Magna Hotel Fund I, L.P.

Magna Hotel Fund I had its final closing in July 2001 with $8.65 million in committed capital. The funds were fully committed and invested by October 2005. The Fund was fully liquidated and closed out in July 2013.

Magna Hotel Fund II, L.P.

Magna Hotel Fund II had its final closing in October 2005 with $9.1 million in committed capital. The funds were fully committed and invested by December 2008. The Fund was fully liquidated and closed out in July 2014.

Magna Hotel Fund III, L.P.

Magna Hotel Fund III had its final closing in June 2008 with $75 million in committed capital. The funds were fully committed and invested by September 2012. As of December 2015, the Fund retained ownership in eight assets.

Magna Hotel Fund IV, L.P.

Magna Hotel Fund IV had its final closing in December 2012 with $135 million in committed capital. The funds were fully committed and invested by February 2015. As of December 2015, the Fund retained ownership in twelve assets.

Magna Hotel Fund V, L.P.

Magna Hotel Fund V had its final closing in January 2015 with $175 million in committed capital. Fund V is in active investment. As of December 2015, the Fund retained ownership in two assets.

All investments are direct investments that are either self-funded by our Fund or in joint venture with one of our strategic real estate opportunity fund partners. Where we elect to joint venture with a partner, our Fund is typically a managing member of the venture and receives a promoted interest that is shared with all Fund limited partners.
